June Makes Her Trip from Thailand to California!
February 11, 2012
This is the original email I sent to the person, Bitter Brownie, on Facebook. She was the person who took the photos of June. She is a Soi Dog Foundation volunteer. The trip was 11 hours to get from Soi Dog to the NP Shelter.

Hello,
I know this is a long shot, but I am willing to try.
I saw a particular dog photographed in the 300 dogs rescued from a boat taking dogs from Thailand to Vietnam for the food trade. I wanted to find out what the adoption requirements are for the dog. I know this is not your shelter, but I thought you might know about how this works.
I don't know the best way to let you know what dog. It is the 16th row, and the dog is the "shaggy" looking blond dog with the erect ears and the big pink tongue hanging out. He/She appears to have some fur missing from the chest, but it looks like white fur would be there if it was there. She/he is sitting upright alone, and appears very eager to be photographed and appears friendly and curious. Does that help?
I live near Oakland, California, USA.
Thank you very much!

Hi Jackie
Can you email me the photo please?
I don't know if adopting this dog will be possible, but if you send me photo I can make some enquiries.
In the meantime, please look at this page on our website regarding adopting to USA & the costs involved.

Kindest wishes & thanks for caring!

Hi Jackie
Many thanks.
Did you read the link I gave you about adopting abroad?
If you are able to afford cargo costs, I will make enquires about this dog for you. As there will be quite a lot of work involved in finding out information about this dog, I need to know whether you can afford to adopt before I begin this process.
Sweet looking dog, no wonder has stolen your heart!
Cheers
Cindy

Hi Jackie
Many thanks for the transfer.
I will get a quote for you to Frisco. No problem.
I will also try to get some photos at Bangkok for you.
By the way, can you give me a name for the dog? Will make it easier this end. You can change later, but need something straight away so we can give the dog an identity.
Many thanks for saving her!
Cindy x

Ok. The money is transfered.
Would it be possible to get a few quick photos of her while she is at the clinic for her future blog?
Also, I live near San Francisco. Can she be shipped to that airport instead if LA?
Thanks!

The dog has been moved to our clinic in Bangkok. Apparently she's lovely!
Let me know when you've transferred the funds.
Cheers

June in Bangkok to Help Stop Dog Meat Trade

Dear Jackie,
I am currently in Bangkok and June is fine and recovering well from her experiences.
We wish to neuter and also check her blood etc., before sending to you so will fly her down to Phuket next week and fly her from there in a couple of weeks.
Yesterday she came with me to a rally outside the main TV channel here protesting at the dog meat trade following seizure of around 5,800 dogs yesterday.
She was shown on Thai TV. Impeccably behaved she is a real star!
Struck me that she could be a great ambassador in the US against the dog meat trade here.
Have ccd. Mah and others regarding this as would make great story in my opinion. IF you are agreeable.
Took some great photos of her but unable to download here at the moment. Will send you when able.
Best wishes,
John

Hi Jackie
Just to let you know that I spent some time with June yesterday at Soi Dog. She's absolutely ADORABLE! Cute & cuddly, such a gentle girl. I'm tempted to keep her for myself. She seems a little sad & bewildered, but when i picked her up for a cuddle she just pushed herself into me & clung. Heart breaking.
I can't wait for her to be with you & feel safe & loved.
Kindest wishes
Cindy
p.s have attached a few photos I took of June with shelter manager - Reggie.

Hi Jackie,
June at airport today for health check and application etc., have to say a nicer dog would be hard to find.
Playful yet gentle, and just flops when you hold her. By coincidence Khun Bee who pulled her out of Nakhom Phanom was down in Phuket on business and arrived at shelter just as I got back from the airport with her.
Also dropped another dog off who is flying cargo to Montreal today.
Will fly up to Bangkok Saturday morning, and Khun Kharn ccd. above will meet and then take to meet Kathryn and flight volunteer.
She will assist with checking in and pay the excess baggage.
I have decided not to take June as accompanied baggage as Bangkok Airways insist dogs are knocked out which is dangerous.
I will put her on the first Thai airways flight scheduled to arrive Bangkok 08:40. Allowing for the hours clearance that means Kharn will pick up from cargo at 09:40, maybe take her for a quick run, and then meet you either outside the entrance door for EVA AIR. (recommended as may have to drop off and then park), or EVA check in area.
Will let you and Kharn decide that.
Had a dog fly to LA with a passenger on Thai yesterday from Bangkok and Kharn checked that one in and all went smoothly.
How is she getting from LA to San Fran?
Will get some photos of her on Friday leaving shelter as will spend night at my house as 5 am start Saturday morning. :-(
Best wishes,
John.

Really active and loves everybody and everything. Not seen one sign of aggression to other dogs, cats etc.
Will miss her!"

Just a quick note to let you know that everything went smoothly at the airport and June is on her way to you. She is a WONDERFUL dog --- we all fell in love with her.
Let us know when you get June home and settled. I am so happy for both of you.
Cheers,
